Pros: One device with various connectors.
Cons: Clunky power supply, SATA connector too fragile.
Other Thoughts: I m a freelance IT consultant and this looked like a must-have product. Unfortunately the SATA connector broke when disconnecting it after the first use. I will look into RMA but if I have to send back the original, the shipping cost will make the exercise worthless.

Other Thoughts: I have used this product quite a bit for doing tasks such as wiping and reformatting hard drives, and also using spare drives as storage, when they would otherwise sit around.
I tested it with an old IDE drive sata may be quicker but I doubt it, USB ports are slow compared to SATA and probably IDE too.
It took me about 6 mins to send over a 3.5gb file, leading to an average transfer rate of about 9.95 mb/sec.
All in all, a great product to have around. If you plan on fixing any computers, an adapter like this is indispensable.
Cons: I bought one of these for two IDE drives since the new mobos are SATA only. What a disappointment. It worked once then nothing. I did the RMA with new egg and had to pay for shipping to send it back only to receive another that didn t even work at all just a dead usb that my computer didn t even try and read. Tried on two different computers so I don t get why some say these work good unless Newegg has got a bad batch

Other Thoughts: I have a pile of hard drives collected over the years from system upgrades and such. I bought this as an easy method of going through them before destruction. I ve also loaned it to several people and so far everyone has been well pleased with it performance.

Pros: Quick easy testing and setup of hard drives or other PATA/SATA devices. All in one box, power cables and USB unit all included. 2.5 IDE input is keyed so you cant hook it up wrong. Worked well with a cobbled China made CF to 2.5 IDE converter. Seems about on par with most other USB 2 item speeds.
Cons: Molex to SATA power adapter-wire is cheesy but MOLEX is all cheesy. Could have put a bit more effort into making that wire a bit better. I will shrink wrap mine if I use it much. IDE/PATA connections are a bit stubby. If you have a master jumper on the selection pins, it wont fit if the jumper goes past the pins. Mine came re-shrink wrapped from the looks of it.
Other Thoughts: It worked OK for me out of the box and its a handy little item with everything you need. Have yet to try it on an optical drive but I doubt I ever will. Great way to test and mess with drives. Every evil genius or clueless knucklehead should have one.

Pros: Does exactly as advertised. Simple construction makes it impossible to hook it up incorrectly. Good price with no complaints from my end.
Other Thoughts: Usb cord could be slightly longer but it wasn t short enough to interfere with progress.
Pros: We use this brand of adapter at work and they all work great and have for years.
Cons: Mine died the first time I plugged it in. The black cable on the Molex to SATA power adapter came loose and shorted out the unit. I just hope it didn t damage the 2 TB HDD I had plugged in at the time. Sparks and smoke; the whole works.
Other Thoughts: I ve had nothing but good experience with these, except when I decide to buy my own. Go figure.

Pros: It worked as intended for just over a year of heavy use.
Cons: After 12 months of use which coincides with the warranty period, I noticed that drives I hooked to a computer with this were showing up as RAW or empty in Windows. At first I thought the drives were bad because I would hook them up afterwards directly and they would also show up empty in computer management. However, I took one of the drives and scanned it with Test disk and re-wrote an NTFS partition and all of the data came back. So, I tested again by formatting and puitting data on a barand new empty drive. And, as soon as I connected it with this adapter, it showed up empty. This adapter was actually removing the formatting info from every drive I attached to it. I am a comm/Tech 3 in a government IT department and this caused me major problems until I figured out what was going on. Big fail VANTEC.
